Confidentiality Policy for Orangeville Christian School
To meet the mission of OCS we each need to ensure that a respectful and caring atmosphere flourishes within our community. To encourage this it is important that all staff and volunteers of OCS understand the requirement for all interactions within the school to be conducted with confidentiality.
When employees or volunteers including committee members or board members of Orangeville Christian School use privileged information* in an unauthorized manner, the resulting breach of confidentiality can cause grief, gossip or conflict that is unnecessary.
All information that a member in a position of responsibility receives in a course of the discharge of their responsibilities, or observes regarding individuals at the school, should not be shared with others unless authorized by the principal or the Board Chair.
All personnel must keep privileged information in the strictest confidence and should not discuss issues or school business in public or with members of the public.
*Privileged information is all information involving any interaction concerning staff, students or volunteers at the school or information received while at school, on a committee or as a member of staff or the Board. Information received when in a privileged position is not to be discussed outside of the appropriate venue meetings.
